How to add a video mask on iPhone.

Use a text mask to reveal the video through a word or phrase, alongside other video elements.

Step 1

Open Video Overlays

Choose one compatible video and open Video Overlays, which includes text, images, stickers, and masks.

Step 2

Add a text mask

Choose Mask and enter its text in the alert. Tap the mask row whenever you want to edit the text.

Step 3

Place and finish it

Move and resize the mask, adjust its text style and background color and opacity, then choose its visible time range.

Use the same style popover as regular text to change the mask font and appearance. Color and opacity control the area around the letters.

Background color, opacity, and timing

Set a background color and opacity for the mask and choose when it appears. Outside its active range, the video continues with the other active elements.
